The Lady Cougars Volleyball team kicked off their first official game on Tuesday, August 20th. The cougars defeated the Russellville Lady Panthers in a 3-0 sweep. Although this win marked the 121st consecutive district win, rivals still doubt the ability of our volleyball team.
Micah Page, senior middle-hitter, says, “We came out and defeated the panthers 25-6, 25-5 and 25-2. It was a major victory and yet people still get on twitter and talk trash about our program. What else do they want us to do?”
Although the away game at Russellville was the first official game of the season, the Lady Cougars participated in plenty of games during the pre-season. “We competed extremely hard this pre-season, we had many big wins that showed people just how much potential we hold,” says Onahka Fuller, senior outside-hitter.
The Lady Cougars had a big win against rival team, Bowling Green, defeating the Purples 2-1. During the pre-season LCVB took down talented programs like South Warren, Warren East and Bowling Green, but are still ranked lower in the region at 5th.
Shaina Johnson, defensive specialist, says, “We all think our rank is completely out of line with how we have competed already this year. People just hate believing that a Warren County school can be taken down by little Logan County.”

Despite all of the doubt about the volleyball program, they are working harder than ever. With new coaches Caleb and Lindsey Sheffield, the team is expecting big things for this season.
