Upon arriving at L & R Soda Fountain, it felt as though we had been transported back to the fifties. It felt as though Danny Zuko would come waltzing around the corner wearing a leather jacket, or that Archie would come running in alongside Jughead Jones. L & R Soda Fountain definitely had the diner feel of generations past. The appearance was breathtaking, and the employees were absolutely wonderful, as was the food.
As we walked through the doors, we were enveloped in such a welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted by a team of waitresses who wore such genuine smiles. The first person to talk to us was Mrs. Judy Goodnight, Trevor and Jolynn Hesson’s grandmother. She waited on us and continued to talk to us about Trevor and Jolynn and how we knew them. The waitress who brought our order to the table was also extremely polite. She made sure we were satisfied with everything we ordered. There were several other customers in there at the same time we were. However, the waitresses tended to each group of customers, tentatively and quickly.
Taylor ordered the special of the day, beef manhattan, with a caramel milkshake to drink. I personally ordered a chicken sandwich with a mint chocolate chip milkshake.

After ordering we attempted to take pictures and explore the restaurant as a whole; however, we only had to wait about seven or eight minutes until our food was delivered,
fresh and absolutely delicious. We were more than satisfied with everything we ordered, as well as the service.
A short journey to Elkton is definitely worth the experience. If anyone reading this decides to visit L & R, be sure to say, “Hi!” to Mrs. Judy and give her a big hug from the Logan County student body.
